Proposed Bills
Had I first found out about Talossa through the internet instead of the Wired magazine article of March, 2000 which gave me a strong dose of instant credibility, I would have probably dismissed Talossa as just some hoax and never joined. I know I never would have found out about Talossa in the first place. Ben Madison has said more than once to me and to the nation that Alex Blumberg, the author of the article did a better job on the piece than Talossans at that time could have.
UPDATE as of 28 June 2020 Census: All of the above still holds true.
I first lurked Witt in late May of 2000 and made my first post on the now-defunct Wittenberg VI on about May 26. This was an interesting time: the religion debates and the last throes of the 'Greek God Guy' greeted me. The election for the 27th Ziu had just concluded and M. Loquatsch named his government not two weeks after I came. I had the great fortune to be naturalized at the T-Fest Living Cosá of August 5, 2000 along with Marguerite, Mike D., and Amadâ. That day, I also was able to phone in to T-Fest (held that year at Das Jahnschloss).
What, then, drew me to Talossa? It was not one thing only; rather, it was the whole experience: the culture, the language, the people, the debates, the politics, the fact of there being a whole bunch of real, breathing people who seemed destined to stay for a while-I knew right off this was no bunch of teenage hacks but real people with "a healthy sense of the absurd". I have had for as long as I can remember a fascination with the pomp and pagentry of royalty. While Talossa does not have the robes and orbs one might find elsewhere, she does have a real king, a real Prime Minister, a real government, and, yes, a real Opposition! :)
UPDATE: I love pomp and pagentry, but not so much in Talossa (save in heraldry) - abolish 'hereditary'!! - 21 i 2019 and 28 June 2020
My experience in Talossa has mainly been on the political stage. I quickly joined the RCT and, in my small way, helped that party to its present success and prominence. With the rise of provincial activity dating from the latter half of 2000, I felt the creative bug hit me and, in March, 2001, müc'häps!, the provincial online publication of the Maricopa Province was born! I was pleased and proud to be appointed in January, 2001 by then-Military Governor John Minot to be the Secretary of State of the province. I held the first democratic election for Governor in the spring of 2001, and the rest is history! :) All that while serving four Clarks in the Cosá!
UPDATE - This dates from whenever the heck my fourth Clark was. I'll have to look this up in the Database. 21 i 2019
Later in that same year, I decided my own vision of Talossan politics and that of the RCT had diverged so much it would be best to leave the party (which I did) and become what I am now, an independent and a "swing" voter.
In March or thereabouts in 2002, I was asked by then-Prime Minister Loquatsch to become his Deputy Prime Minister. I accepted and on 25 June, 2002, Michael Pope resigned, and I became Talossa's twenty-sixth Prime Minister. In November, 2002, I joined the Progressive Conservative Party, and in December watched as the Black Hand Party and the Grey Congress Party split from the PC. In January, 2003, the PC, the Black Hand, and the Grey Congress came together in the glorious Válcadac'h Coalition!
Now, what do I do in "real life"?? I sing in a number of professional choirs here in Houston as well as do whatever the employment agencies can get me. No full-time job for me, please-too brutal a schedule with all my choir rehearsals through the week.
Talossa has been wonderful, and I look forward to being Talossan for a long time to come!
