Proposed Bills
Martì Páir arrived in Talossa with some controversy. He registered http://www.talossa.net before becoming a citizen and without asking permission. After a few exchanges, he apologized and became a respected prospective.
He became a citizen on January 21st, and on the 23rd, was offered a Cosâ seat by the PC party, which he gladly accepted.
Quickly, he became interested in "documenting" Talossa, that is, producing informative websites providing information. For example, he draw on the first few days of February a constitutional chart of Talossa. To honor his enthusiasm, Prime Minister Michael Pope named him Minister of Stuff on February 12th.
Meanwhile, Martì Páir's nomination on the Cosâ made him question his party affiliation for the long term. After hesitation between the RCT and the PC party, a touching speech by Phil Ledgerwood on the meaning of the PC brought him to apply for PC membership.
In March 2001 the Secretary of State asked Martì Páir to replace him for 3 months while he was busy. Amongst the modifications Martì Páir introduced were the semi-automation of the voting process for Ziu members via the use of a computerized voting form.
The replacement didn't go as expected : first of all, Dave was too busy to handle the general election of the 32nd Cosâ, and second of all, Martì Páir took the opportunity to ask Dave for a 6 month replacement rather than a 3 month in order to qualify for Senatorship. The request was gladly accepted, even thought it meant Dave would get an opposition when he would run in the next Senäts election in Atatürk.
The election was quite different from others, and Martì Páir fought to gain the vote of several hard to reach citizens, making calls as far as Argentina and Italy.
After the election, he founded the Talossa Biographical Society in charge of writing the Talography of every single citizens of Talossa. In order to ease his work load, he created an automated Citizen page edition script, to let members of the society directly update the citizens page which had been migrated to a database access in the mean time.
Speaking of the pages, his work on Talossa.net continued relentlessy, with continuous updates made page per page over the months. In addition to now hosting several official governemental websites such a the Foreign Affairs Ministry, The Kingdom home pages, the Ministry of Immigration, the Prime-Minister office, the Ministry of Stuff and the office of the Secretary of State, he created the Talonet News Brief Service in the hope of having regular contributors who could write small articles to give non-frequent Witt readers a quick and condensed version of the daily action. However, the project unfortunatly didn't go very far and stayed in status-quo.
I was born in 1976 in Québec, Canada. I am French-Speaking. The interesting parts of my life really start in my final year of high-school. At that time, I was already fascinated by history, math, computers. But, it is only when I became the school editorialist that politics started to fascinate me. During all my high school, I at studied in school or programs for gifted child, and in my final years, since there were no such program in my school commission, I had to go study in the neighboring school commission. That year, there was a union problem in school that opposed the teachers and the school principal, who had lied to them in the previous negotiations. Teachers were now boycotting extra-curriculum activities in retaliation. In addition to being the editorialist, I was also on the Student union. The real causes of the conflict were hidden to the students. I gained privileged information and denounced the direction for their faults in the conflict ( and the union for not talking to the students ). The editor-in-chief and I were suspended from the paper for our actions, and I was suspended from school until the Principal could have a word with my mother. To his surprise, my mom approved total freedom of speech and disapproved any action taken against me. Because the suspension was not based on actual infraction on school regulation, and because my mom backed me up, I was reintegrated. Furthermore, the union backed us off. I had several meetings with the principal during me he tried to intimidate me ( Freedom of speech if guaranteed in society, but a school isn`t a society, rules are different he told me. (A school is basically a fascist state, and I am the dictator). Eventually, the principal learned that the editor and I were from another school commission and since he could not expel us from the school ( which is difficult to do in Quebec ), he tried to expulse us from the commission ( therefore de facto from the school ). By a twist of fate, the editor's mom was on the school commission( as a parent commissioner), and she threatened to fight until her death ( or the supreme court ) any measures taken against us. While everything ended well ( except I was now a columnist instead of the official editorialist ), I became fascinated by the behind the scene politics.
Immediately following the newspaper incident, I joined the Parti Québécois ( PQ ), the party mostly know for the fact that they want Québec's separation from Canada. I joined mostly because of it's strong support of a good education system ( at that time ). Furthermore, the party is a little more to the left than the Liberal Party ( which is a little more to the right of center). While having center ideas, I generally tend to the near-center left. However, this is one of the last criteria for me to choose a party.
In the PQ, I quickly moved. Even thought I was only 17, within 6 months I became Président Regional Jeunes ( Youth wing regional président ), giving me a seat in both the Conseil National Jeunes ( National Youth Council ) and the Conseil National ( National Council, the highest party authority ). With a flood of propositions, I attempted a reform of the party's views on education. Thanks to backing from a few deputies, I managed to impose some of ideas, mainly that education was for the purpose of educating students, and not for the purpose of giving jobs to teachers ( it may seem stupid as an idea, but I had a lot of problems putting that into the minds of party members ). I was also trying to convince the party to create a strong internet presence with a good backbone website. I failed. Then, only a token website with individual web pages on several servers were present. After about 6 months in office, several amendment to the party's line, I dropped out of the party, becoming an eminence grise guiding the actions of several young politicians in the youth wing of the party. I eventually dropped that role when my computer studies and an almost full time Internet job took my time. The company I worked at made several government website. Rapidly gaining promotions, I tried to convince the Quebec government ( by then headed by the PQ ) to use the same vision I had. Opposed by the same team as I was when in the party, I failed again. Fortunately, the idea was taken a few years later and now, Quebec has reasonable websites. I didn't profit much from it, however...
The company eventually folded, I finished studying and I am now working as full-time web developer. I got married with my beautiful fiancée on September 4th, 1999.
