WHEREAS on 25 June 1998 Lounès Matoub, a famous Algerian Amazigh (Berber) singer, whose work has been featured on CD at past Talossa get-togethers, was shot dead by unknown perpetrators, who also seriously injured his wife and his sisters-in-law in the attack; and
WHEREAS Lounès Matoub was murdered because he was a human rights campaigner and defender of the rights of the Imazighen (Berbers) to their culture, who spoke out against the Islamist terrorists who are massacring thousands of innocent people in Algeria and the anti-democratic Algerian government which perpetuates the conflict; and
WHEREAS massmurders have occurred in Algeria for several years now, harming Arabs and Berbers alike, the perpetrators of which the Algerian government has refused to let an independent committee investigate;
THEREFORE the Ziu hereby, in order to honour the memory of Lounès Matoub and all other victims of this bloody conflict and to denounce these cowardly murders, condemns armed Islamic terrorist groups in Algeria and the Algerian government which aggravates the conflict.

Approved but Ephemeral

WHEREAS on September 27, 1996, the Taliban, a fundamentalist Islamic militia, seized control of the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, and violently plunged the occupied territories of Afghanistan into a brutal state of gender apartheid in which women and girls have been stripped of their basic human rights; and
WHEREAS under Taliban rule women have been stripped of their visibility, voice, and mobility, and women are forbidden to work outside of the home, and girls and women are prohibited from attending schools and universities, and women are forced to wear the burqa--a voluminous garment which completely shrouds the body under thick layers of fabric, leaving only a small mesh opening through which to breathe and see--and women can not leave the confines of their homes unless accompanied by a close male relative, and homes with women must have their windows painted black to hide the women from view, and women are forbidden to wear white socks, and their shoes can not make noise when they walk; and
WHEREAS Taliban Law is in opposition to Islam;
THEREFORE the Ziu condemns the Taliban Islamic Militia for their gender apartheid, and not recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government in Afghanistan, and do everything in their power to restore women's human rights to work, education, health care and safety in Afghanistan.

WHEREAS a number of citizens of other micronations have been posting to the Talossan discussion group Wittenberg II lately; and
WHEREAS this has caused much heat and ill-will in Talossa which is disruptive and bad and robs people of the fun; and
WHEREAS several Talossans do not approve of others posting to the group except for Talossans and those interested in joining Talossa; and
WHEREAS it is our firm belief that almost everyone who is attracted to Talossa is attracted by the alluring and masterly homepage and not by the discussions on Wittenberg anyway;
THEREFORE the discussion group shall be protected with a password. This password shall be changed when deemed necessary and shall be given out to all Talossans AND to all friendly foreigners who apply for it because they are genuinely interested in Talossa at the discretion of the Immigration Minister, whose e-mail address shall be clearly stated on the page where the password is entered to gain access to the discussion group.
